This week in kindergarten we're working on 3-D shapes. We're using several activities from my 3-D shapes unit. I created the unit last year when I was teaching first grade so I recently created some new pages that will work a little better in a kindergarten class. I'll add the new pages to the blog for free throughout the week. The first freebie is a set of 3-D shape word problems.

Math Journal Monday (Dinosaur Word Problems)
Several of my little guys love dinosaurs. I thought it would be fun to incorporate their love of dinosaurs into this week's word problems. While I was researching some dino facts, I came across these little dinosaur gems:
Q: What did the Triceratops sit on?
A: Its Tricera-botttom!
Q: How do you ask a tyrannosaur out to lunch?
A: Tea, Rex?
I'm sure those jokes just filled your day with laughter so you're welcome. ;)

Math Journal Monday (Insect Word Problems)
This week we started one of my favorite science units, insects. One of my sweet parents donated a butterfly life cycle kit from Insect Lore to our class. Our precious, little caterpillars arrived last week and they're already snoozing in their chrysalises. Hopefully, we'll have butterflies in the next few weeks. I was inspired by our little science adventure when I was creating this week's math journal problems. Click on the picture to download word problems with an insect theme.

Math Journal Monday (Water Themed Word Problems)
I'm a little late with my math journal Monday problems today. My students return from spring break on Wednesday so I had a little extra time to create these problems. I can't wait to see their precious faces but, I sure am going to miss sleeping in late. If only school started at 10 instead of 8, then I'd have the perfect job. :) This week's math journal problems have a water theme. We're learning about water changes and the water cycle this week. Click on the picture below to download three sets of word problems.
