Spiders and Bats Mini-Unit

Spider and bats are not exactly the cutest animal around, but my kiddos sure do love learning about them. I made a new Spiders and Bats Mini-Unit to incorporate into my curriculum this year. I also tried my hand at making crafts for the first time and they actually turned out pretty cute. Click on the pictures below to check out my new mini-unit.

New Blog Design

Look around, y'all! Isn't my new blog design just precious? I worked with the amazing Erin at Creating and Designing and she did such a great job.

I tried my hand at designing my own blog and it was... Stressing.Me.Out. I just couldn't get everything to look the way that I wanted it to. After searching through most of the designers out there, I realized that it was going to take a long time to get a new design and it was going to cost me an arm and a leg. Then (insert clouds parting and harp music here) I found Erin's blog. Not only are her designs precious, her prices are also very affordable. Click on her button below to check out some of her other designs.

Emergent Readers

When we started the school year, my kinders weren't quite ready for reading groups, but I still wanted to send home some sort of reading practice. I went a little emergent reader crazy and created several of them for the first few weeks of school. I wish I could share all of them with you, but due to the terms of use of some of the clip art illustrators, I'm not allowed to give them away for free. I do have one that I can share. Click on the more or less picture to download that emergent reader.

You can also have the umbrella positional words emergent reader. It's a free preview from my positional words unit. Click on the picture then download the preview to access this book.

If you would like more emergent readers, click on one of the books below to purchase them from my TpT store.

Math Journal Monday, Apple Word Problems

This week's math journal problems revolve around one of my favorite thematic units, apples. I just adore teaching from early fall until Christmas. There are so many fun thematic units that you can incorporate into your instruction. Wednesday is Johnny Appleseed's birthday so we're going to spend all week learning about apples. Click on the picture below to download the apple word problems.

It's *Almost* Fall Y'all

The weather here in Austin, Texas is so amazing, y'all! We're finally starting to have days where the temperatures don't reach 100 degrees. This great weather has put me in a fall mood so I've spent the better part of this weekend working on a fall unit. I had so much fun making it! There is much adorable fall clip art out there. I just couldn't stop making activities! Click on the picture below to check out my new fall unit.

I also created an apple sorting activity that didn't make it into the unit. Click on the picture below to download it for free.

The first two people who comment on this blog will receive the fall unit for free. Please include your email address in your comment.

New Take Home Sight Word Book

I finally completed the third Take Home Sight Word Book! So sorry for the delay. I looped back down to kinder this year and it's hard to find time to make a resource that you're not currently using. It's really just hard to find the energy to do anything outside of school at the beginning of kindergarten. :) I loop up to first grade every other year so it's always quite an adjustment to go from end of first grade with one group back down to beginning of kinder with another group. Luckily, I have the cutest, sweetest little bunch a teacher could ask for. Anyways, thanks for your patience with this last book!

Click on the picture below to check it out book #3:

Have you checked out my other two sight word books? The first one is free!

I also combined all three sight word books together into one file at a discounted rate. The first three people to comment on this post will receive this Take Home Sight Word Book Combo Pack for free. Please include your email address in your comment.

Where, Oh Where Has This Little Blog Gone?

Hi sweet bloggy friends! I apologize for my long absence. Believe it or not, I just started my second week of school. My charter school has shorter summers and longer breaks throughout the year. During fall break, I adore this schedule but, it sure is hard to go back to work in the middle of July. I completely redid my classroom over the summer. I'm planning on taking lots of pictures this week and posting them. Until then, here's a little sneak peek into my new owl themed classroom.

View from the door

My brand new rug!

Owl word wall and new storage unit

My rocking chair that I painted over the summer

Writing center and art center
I created several new products over the summer and I have a lot of freebies to share. I'll post about those throughout the week.
